The keyboard music stand is the unsung hero in the arsenal of accessories that a normal keyboard player
uses.
It's rare for the music stand to ever get a thought from the musicians...yet there it is loyally proping up the
keyboard day after day, gig after gig. The only time it gets any attention is when it causes problems by falling
apart or falling over at the wrong times.
It's therefore essential to make sure you get a stand which suits your needs. You don't want it too heavy but
neither do you want it falling over when you are on stage. If you make a living performing then you also want a
stand which will look good and not embarrass you and your band. It also needs to be confortable and offer you great
support.
There are loads of different types of keyboard stands to purcahse including the "X" frame and "A" frame models.
Most (but not all) are collapsible and are therefore very portable and easy to travel with.
The A frame stand is so called because the ends of the stand look like the letter "A". This type of stand has
the greatest capacity, with up to four tiers provided on the best stands. "A" frame stands are comprised of tubular
steel and although simple to assemble they will generally take longer to do so than the X-type stand.
The X-type keyboard stand is so called because it is formed by two pieces of braced metal which are crossed to
and look like the letter X.
The keyboard X stand can be easily assembled in a matter of seconds. In some cases it can support two keyboards
if you add another tier, but the X stand does not really match the A frame for stability and capacity.
